I don't know why color selection was one of the criteria offered because I've never purchased any mascara in any color other than black, but I guess if you're looking for a Big Fatty in like electric blue or flamingo pink you're out of luck.
I got this after having used the same brand of mascara for like two years because it was 75% off or something irresistible like that.
I will never go back.
This mascara makes my lashes plump and long and gorgeous. It doesn't flake like a lot of other mascara brands. It makes my lashes visible against my crazy eyeshadow that I always wear, and that's always something that I look for. I'm not surprised that Urban Decay would put out something so awesome.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Another Friends and Family Sale grab.
I have three deluxe eyeshadows in Graffiti, Ransom, and Freakshow. Among all of them, I probably use Graffiti the most but among them Graffiti is the lightest. I really have to lay it on to get the bright green pigment that I want.
Freakshow is really, really pigmented and it's a lot darker purple than I thought it would be. In fact, I thought that Freakshow would be more of a royal purple and Ransom would be a light purple but as it happens Ransom is a light purplish-blue and Freakshow is a really dark blackish-purple.
I combined these three colors on my lid with a little bit of Dashiki (vintage) and a yellow luminizer and I got compliments on my makeup all day. The colors that I got go together really well, and they're super creamy and don't flake off when I brush them on my lid. Altogether, they're a really good buy.
Pros Creamy, pigmented, good value, blend well, variety of applications
Cons colors look different on lid than in packaging
Yes, I recommend this product.

Seriously.
If you don't wear primer potion, your eyeshadow either falls off or lumps together and looks gross by the end of the day.
I cannot wear eyeshadow unless I wear primer potion and I cannot wear primer potion unless it's Urban Decay. Just do yourself a favor and buy it. Whether it's original (which is what my mother uses) or Sin (which is what I use) or any of other shades, it's perfect and totally worth what you're going to pay for it.
Pros great value, Effective, pretty, absolutely vital
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have a fair amount of these from back when they first went on sale and a ton of the original colors were still being offered. I'd been craving eyeshadow singles (up to that point I only had palettes) for a really long time, so this was sort of like having Christmas come early.
I ended up buying Dashiki, Hot Pants, Lounge, Minx, Urb, and X. Among all of them I definitely use Dashiki and Hot Pants the most. They're all really pigmented, creamy, and easy to use. My only problem would be with Minx, Urb, and X. Those three are really super sparkly, so when I brush them on my lid I almost always end up with glitter on my cheeks.
All things considered these are really nice singles. While I definitely prefer the new formula to the vintage one, I really like some of the vintage colors that weren't kept on board when the new formula was adopted. Definitely worth it.
Pros good color selection, good value, easy application
Cons too glittery
Yes, I recommend this product.

I got the Dangerous Palette during the Friends and Family Sale (along with a ton of other stuff) a while ago, and I'm sad to say that I neglected to get the Feminine and Fun palettes as well. I was a little wary at first because I had multiple duplicates in both Fun and Feminine but only one duplicate (Mushroom) in Dangerous. Having used Dangerous, I think the other two palettes would be worth it for the new colors.
First, the selection of colors is awesome. To have a green, blue, purple, gold, and silver in one palette without duplication is seriously the best thing. They all go on very easily and are highly pigmented, so you don't waste a lot of eyeshadow trying to get them to show up. They blend together really well, too, and while I would probably shy away from this during the day it's possible to make a really wide variety of nighttime looks.
My only problem with this would be that every time I unzip the palette and open it up, the carton that contains the eyeshadow sticks to the top half instead of the bottom half, which is where it's supposed to be. I have to pull it down and I'm afraid that I'm going to lose the lip gloss (and losing something on my makeup counter is akin to tossing it into a black hole -- it's never coming back.)
That aside, this palette is pretty much perfect. I would recommend it to anyone who likes their eye makeup to be on the edgy side of life.
Pros color selection, Highly Pigmented, easy to apply, various applications
Cons difficult packaging
Yes, I recommend this product.

I picked this puppy up as soon as I realized it was on sale. When I first saw it, I fell in love with it. Probably one of my favorite things is that it contains Infamous and Haight, both of which I had considered buying as singles.
The only reason I didn't give it a perfect five on everything is because a lot of the colors are really similar. I tried using Money, Mushroom, and Gunmetal in swatches on my lid, but they all blended together (in a bad way) and it looked like I was wearing one color. Also, I had a duplicate Gunmetal from the Naked Palette.
Fortunately, I have been able to create really nice gradient looks with Infamous (next to Fishnet (new), Grifter (vintage), and Freakshow (deluxe)) and Haight (next to Shattered (vintage), Dashiki (vintage), and Evidence (new).) I also use Skimp to highlight often, especially when I'm wearing grays, blacks, and silvers.
Pros Good Value, High Quality, Highly Pigmented, Blendable, Great Colors
Cons similar colors
Yes, I recommend this product.

I picked up Perversion just a little while ago during the Friends and Family sale because honestly, I'd been dying to get my hands on it for months but needed an excuse (like 20% off) to justify paying almost $20 for one eye pencil.
The money was definitely worth it. The black is a solid black, not a translucent brownish-blackish-gray that you get with a lot of brands. It goes on the waterline smoothly, which is a really big thing for me since I pretty much only use eye pencils on my waterline.
That being said, my only complaint would be that after about four to five hours of wear, the eyeliner stars to rub off the outer corner of my eye and the inner tear-duct area, leaving strong black liner in the center of my waterline and diluted-looking liner on the outer edges which, as you can probably imagine, looks ridiculous.
Of course, the problem may be with me and not with the liner. I have several friends who are able to wear liner on their waterlines all day with no problems whatsoever. The one fault that I found shouldn't preclude anyone from getting this liner because it really is the best eye pencil I've ever used.
Pros Creamy, pigmented, easy to use
Cons rubs away
Yes, I recommend this product.

I got this for Christmas after having begged just about everyone in my life to buy it for me. I'd heard really good things about it from friends and family who used it, and they all really enjoyed it.
The only faults I can find are these: the shade of my eyeshadow primer potion is Sin. That being said, I don't really have much use for the eyeshadow Sin unless I'm layering it on top of something else or using it as a highlight. Secondly, some of the colors (like Sidecar) go on really lightly. I have to really pack the shadow onto my brush for it to be visible, and it's so glittery that I often end up with sparkles on my cheeks.
These things aside, the palette is perfect for pretty much all occasions. The colors are so versatile that I can use it when I'm getting ready for school in the morning or when I'm getting ready to go out at night. I love that there's a combination of matte, shimmer, and glitter for whatever look I'm going for. The colors blend really well, and they're not outfit-specific like other eye shadows. Altogether, I'd say it's definitely worth the cost.
Pros blendability, color selection
Cons goes on light
Yes, I recommend this product.

Building A Palette?

For Christmas, I wanted to buy a "Build Your Own Palette" for a friend of mine -- the one with four empty slots. I know for a fact that she really loves Omen and Psychedelic Sister, but I'm not entirely sure which other colors I should choose for her.

She's relatively new to makeup and I wanted to start her out with UD because it's the brand that I started with. I'm hoping to keep the other two colors fairly neutral because I don't want her to get overwhelmed, but she already has the Naked palette so I'd like to avoid duplicates.

Sorry if this seems a little ridiculous, I'm just super lost as far as what other colors I should choose for her. Help!
